Visit to the Mayor's Parlour Wednesday 18.01.17

On Wednesday 18th January, members of the School council were lucky enough to visit the Mayor and ask questions in a formal meeting setting.

Upon arrival the Mayor came to greet the children and welcome everyone, and the students were taken to the Council Chamber (2nd floor). The seating was set up as it is for a Council meeting. The Mayor then gave a talk on her role as Mayor and covered topics the chilren might specifically be interested in at the moment.

The Mayor then showed the regalia i.e. mace and sword and asked the children some questions, which led into a general question and answer session.

The children were then be taken to the members room (3rd floor) for refreshments, and again had the chance to ask some further questions.

This was a very exciting opportunity for the children, and everyone had a wonderful time.  We hope the Mayor will invite us back again soon!
