Leter from Wayne Norrie, CEO
A letter to all families with the latest update from Greenwood Academies Trust CEO, Wayne Norrie.
Wednesday 13 May 2020
I assume most of you will have heard the Prime Minister on Sunday announce that some children may be returning to school from 1st June. I know you will have many questions that, as yet, I am not able to answer. As a Trust we had no prior warning of this announcement so as you can imagine we are now beginning to work through the guidance, some of which has not been issued yet.
Our absolute priority is to keep our children, my colleagues and our families safe. We will have to see whether the plans put forward by the Government are practical and manageable. We are working very hard at the moment to see how we can safely bring a large number of children back onto our sites. Please bear with us as we work through our plans to keep everybody safe.
Please do not assume that your child’s academy will definitely be open for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 from 1st June. Your child’s Principal will be in contact with you next week to share the plans moving forward.
At the moment nothing has changed, we are still providing emergency childcare for children of Key Workers across our hubs and we will continue to support our children at home as we have been doing over the past few weeks.
The list of Key Workers has not changed. We continue to following Government guidance on this so no additional children will be given a place at school over the next few weeks unless their parent(s) are employed in one of the existing Key Worker categories.
As a parent of three children under 8 I want to assure you that every decision I make is taken with my own children in mind. The Trust will always put the safety of our children, our colleagues and our families first.
My colleagues at your child’s academies are working hard to support those children in provision, those children working from home and are now planning to potentially bring back more children as safely as they can. At this moment in time they will have no answers to your questions. Your child’s Principal will be in touch with you next week.
Take care and stay safe,
Greenwood Academies Trust
